Representatives of a Dalit civil society organization and various organizations have organized a pressure programme at Maitigharmandal, Kathmandu, demanding economic justice and social security.
The Asia Dalit Rights Forum held the demonstration, exerting pressure on the State to bring effective policies and plans that empower the Dalit community financially.
Secretary General of Asia Dalit Rights Forum, Bhakta Bishwakarma, said the economic equality was not possible without social justice. He announced that a unified movement must be waged to ensure rights of the Dalit Community.
Programme Manager of Non-Governmental Organization Federation, Abhishek Sah; President of Jagaran Media Centre, Kamala Bishwakarma; Sanju Singh Bishwakarma from the Dalit Service Association; President of National Nepal Dalit Welfare Association, Mohan Paswan; and from the Dalit Women Centre Nepal, Lakshmi Pariyar had addressed the demonstration.
The protestors were carrying banners and placards urging the state that it took im
mediate steps to solve caste discrimination, guarantee social security, health rights, food crisis and environmental problems.
Along with the Asia Dalit Rights Forum, NGO Federation Nepal, Dalit Non-Governmental Organizations Federation, Nepal National Dalit Social Welfare Association, Dalit Women’s Association, Samanyaya Samaj Nepal, National Dalit Network, Jagran Media, Samata Foundation also paid solidarity to the demonstration.
