A six-member investigation committee has been formed by the Ministry of Industries to investigate explosion that took place at an old ship-breaking factory in Chattogram’s Sitakunda.
The committee, led by Additional Secretary of the ministry Dr Shah Md Helal Uddin, has been asked to submit a report within three working days, said a press release.
As many as 12 people have suffered burn injuries in the explosion.
As the condition of seven of them is critical, they have been sent to Dhaka by ambulance with ICU support on the instructions of Interim Government’s Adviser to the Ministry of Industries Adilur Rahman Khan for better treatment.
An officer of the Agrabad Fire Service and Civil Defense control room said that the blast took place in the pump room of the factory named SN Corporation in Sonaichhari shipyard during the dismantling of an old vessel around 12:30pm.
