Chattogram Hill Tracts (CHT) Affairs Adviser Supradip Chakma has sought the US cooperation in the socio-economic, health, education and cultural development of CHT residents and building a harmonious society there.
The adviser came up with this as a four-member delegation of the US Embassy in Dhaka led by its Charge d’Affairs Helen LaFave called on him at his Bangladesh secretariat office here yesterday , a ministry press release said today .
Welcoming the delegation, the adviser highlighted overall activities of the incumbent government saying, ‘The prime objective of the government is to remove all sorts of discriminations, promote human rights for all and ensure reform based equality and justice as well.’
Adviser Supradip Chakma also sought from the US delegation to provide more cooperation in quality education, livelihood development, health and especially environment in the CHT regions.
He told the US Embassy delegation that the vast CHT regions have immense prospects in agriculture, fisheries and e
co-tourism sectors.
‘Ensuring good governance, justice and equality will be its prerequisite in the regions . . . And everyone should work together for a building a harmonious society and the development of the disadvantageous communities,’ the advisor mentioned.
The CHT Affairs adviser was accompanied by the ministry’s secretary, additional secretary (development) and others.
