The Bangladesh Women’s A team got off to a winning
start to the T20 series against Sri Lanka with a seven-wicket victory at P
Sara Oval Stadium today.
The hosts piled up 112-7 after being put in to bat first, a total that
Bangladesh overhauled in 18.5 overs, losing three wickets.
Fahima Khatun led the victory, claiming 3-12 in four overs while Shamima
Sultana played a vital role in batting as she made 48 off 44.
Sri Lanka made a solid start in batting when Nethmi Poorna and Kaushini
Noothyanga scored 72 runs for the opening stand but they failed to keep up
the rhythm, vastly due to Fahima, who hit back in style to help Bangladesh
take the baton.
Kaushini Noothyanga made team-best 43 and her opening partner poorna scored
27.
Apart from Fahima’s three wickets, Jahanara, Sultana, Rabeya and Ritu Moni
took one wicket apiece.
Chasing the target, Shamima and Sathi Rani made a steady start by adding 40
runs. Shamima who missed the half-century by two runs, struck five fours and
one six. Sobhana scor
ed 28 while Sathi made 20.
