Two looted firearms and a rubber bullet were recovered in an abandoned condition from a kashban adjacent to Lalon Shah Open stage in the city last night.

Sabina Yeasmin, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Media) at Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP), said local people found a bag and informed police being suspicious.

A team of Boalia Police Station rushed to the spot and recovered the bag containing two shotguns and a rubber bullet around 1.00 am.

Yeasmin said the miscreants looted 164 firearms from different police stations, outposts and boxes of RMP during the anti-discrimination student movement.

So far, 146 of those were recovered, she added.

RMP Commissioner Muhammad Abu Sufian expressed his thanks to the city dwellers for their cooperation giving information about the firearms.

He said the RMP and joint forces will continue drives to recover the rest of the firearms.
