Two people, including a woman, were killed in separate elephant attacks in Anwara upazila of the district on Monday night.
The deceased were identified as laborer Abul Kashem, 60, alias Dulal hailed from Deyang Bazar Asrayan Project area under Ward No, 4 of Boirag Union and housewife Rehena Akhtar, 38, hailed from East Boirag area of the same union.
Confirming the matters Monir Hossain, officer-in-charge of Anwara Thana said house wife Rehena Akter was killed on the spot by an elephant attack around 1am last night in East Boirag area of Anwara upazila of the district.
A wild elephant descended from the Deyang Hills and attacked Kashem near the Asrayan Project at 8 pm last night, leaving him critically injured. Locals rescued him and rushed him to the Anwara Health Complex, where doctors referred him to CMCH.
Dulal died at Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH) around 11 pm while undergoing treatment.
Two separate unnatural death (UD) cases were filed with Anwara thana in this connection.
