World leaders should work together to combat the adverse universal impacts of climate change effectively, said the Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Md Shahab Uddin Tuesday.
“Substantial resources are required to be allocated for enhancing adaptive capacity and resilience of the most vulnerable countries,” he said.
The Minister said this while attending a virtual program on ‘Adaptation Action Coalition Event at the UN High-Level Political Forum on Locally-led Adaptation’ with some prominent global climate leaders from different countries.
The Environment Minister emphasized long-term and adequate technical and financial support for achieving the global goal on adaptation through Locally-led Adaptation actions.
The minister reiterated Bangladesh’s noteworthy progress for Climate Action among leading South Asian countries and noted the government’s important policies and plans that support Climate Change adaptation.
The government will capitalize on Good Locally Led Adaptation (LLA) practices in disaster-prone coastal areas by the vulnerable communities and will integrate them into development plans and ensure wider outreach, said Minister Shahab Uddin.
