The Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) arrested two youths from city’ s Hatirhjeel on Wednesday on charges of taking and selling hallucinogen Psilocybin mushroom, commonly known as magic mushroom, in Bangladesh.
The elite force also recovered five bars, containing 120 slices of the mushrooms, and two bottles of foreign-made liquor from their possessions during the drive, says a RAB press release.
The arrestees were identified as Nagib Hasan Arnab, 25, and his friend Taifur Rashid Jahid, 23.
Based on secret information, a joint team comprising Intelligence wing of the Rab headquarters and Rab-10 battalion, conducted the drive at around 1:45 am Wednesday and arrested the duo along with the recovered drugs consignment.
Magic mushroom is a psychedelic (hallucinogen) drug. This drug is used in various foods such as cakes and chocolate mix.
Arrested Taifur was initially addicted to Gaza and alcohol. Then in 2019 he started regularly taking and selling various types of psychedelic drugs including LSD and DMT. When he became interested in psychedelic drugs, he started searching for them on the internet.
This way he could know about magic mushrooms online, says a press release of the Rab headquarters.
