Police have formed a seven-member committee to investigate the huge blast that ripped through a building in Moghbazar on Sunday, leaving at least seven people killed and dozens injured.
Additional Police Commissioner of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) will lead the committee, said a press release of Bangladesh Police Headquarters on Monday.
The committee has been asked to investigate the explosion and recommend prevention of such incidents in future. It will also coordinate with the committee formed by the Fire Service and Civil Defence, said the press release.
Earlier, Brig. Gen. Md Sazzad Hussain, director general of Fire Service and Civil Defence, said that they have formed a 5-member committee to investigate the explosion close to Moghbazar Wireless Gate.

Both the committees have seven working days to submit their reports.
The fire service chief, meanwhile, suspected a gas leakage as the most possible cause of the blast.
DMP Comissioner Shafiqul Islam ruled out involvement of any militant group behind the explosion.
”Splinters would have been scattered at the scene had it been a bomb blast,” he said.
The explosion killed seven people, including a young woman and her nine-month-old daughter, and injured 66 others, deputy commissioner (Ramna) Sazzadur Rahman told UNB.
