The Wildlife Crime Control Unit (WCCU) on Tuesday rescued two pythons, five monkeys and a vulture from two mini parks in Chandpur Sadar upazila.
The animals were illegally kept for exhibition at the Five Star Children’s Park in Ashikati Union and Kritikunj Tia Park in Shahmahmudpur Union.
A five-member team led by WCCU inspectors Asim Mallick and Abdullah-us-Sadiq operated the rescue raids.
Inspector Asim Mallick said that the team operated the raids after receiving information that these animals were being kept at the two parks without permission.
The owners of the parks had been warned not to keep any wildlife without permission, he added.
WCCU director ASM Zahir Uddin Akon provided necessary guidance at the rescue raids.
Rescued animals will be kept at Gazipur Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Safari Park.
Earlier the owner of the Five Star Children’s Park was fined Tk 10,000 by a mobile court for not taking proper care of pythons and monkeys, and also for not having any kind of license to preserve wildlife.
