All cattle markets in the district have been ordered closed for a week due to the increasing rate of coronavirus infection.
The decision was taken Wednesday morning at the district coronavirus prevention committee meeting presided over by Deputy Commissioner Dr. KM Kamruzzaman Selim.
Other shops and stores were to remain open for shortened hours from 10 am to 5 pm, the meeting decided.
Prohibiting public gatherings the deputy commissioner said strict penalties would be imposed if the restrictions and health guidelines were not followed.
BGB was informed to form committees comprising locals in the border areas so that no one from neighbouring countries can enter through the borders.
These measures and the restrictions would be implemented from Thursday.
On Tuesday, 61 corona-infected patients were identified and infection rate was 50.41 per cent in Thakurgaon.
